A 20years old hacker, Ardit Ferizi, also known as Th3Dir3ctorY, citizen of Kosovo, who was arrested by Malaysian police on the US' behalf, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for an act of terrorism - providing material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a designated foreign terrorist organization, and hacking a US company in order to collect information about 1,300 government and military personnel.
The convict is believed to be the leader of an Internet hacking group called Kosova Hacker's Security.
According to the Assistant Attorney General, National Security John P. Carlin, the conviction is said to be the country's first for terrorism-related hacking.
This is a great national development which ensures the security of its citizens and a possible deterrent for those intending to join or are already in the business of terrorism.
I hope Nigeria can take a cue from this and prosecute any possible boko haram personnel or anyone claiming to be related to them, rather than trying consider to a dialogue with them.
