"Knock your way with ease to a smart controlled home".
I really haven't seen anything quite like Knocki before. Knocki is using vibrations (accelerometers and algorithms) to determine which device or devices to control, instead of microphones. So cool, right?!
Swan Solutions, manufacturer of this magical knocks recognition device, have decided to give full control of one's home with just specialized knocks.
The Knocki is a silver-and-white puck-shaped Wi-Fi gizmo with built-in vibration-sensing tech, runs on AAA batteries and lets you turn on/off your lights, change the music you’re listening to, or switch on/off the TV. This quirky gizmo is said to detect the difference between a deliberate tap and an accidental tap. Also, a “wake-up knock" feature, so that it won’t trigger just because someone knocks on the front door. Still, if you want to get a notification when someone knocks, it can do that, too.
The device can be placed anywhere in your home as it has an adhesive glue that is workable on wood, metal, stone, and drywall, or can be screwed in a place.
To access this device, a download of the companion app on your Android or iOS and entering your Wi-Fi credentials, is necessary.
This stands as a great competitor for Alexa and what’s so intriguing about this device is that it already has integration with several smart home products and apps, such as with Google’s Nest thermostat, SmartThings, WeMo Coffeemaker, Google Calendar, Spotify, and IFTTT. Thus, one Knocki can seemingly control a lot of stuff in your home.
Knocki is available for preorder on Kickstarter for $69, to ship in December.
