Why has this device chosen to follow the path of destruction and to cause its makers a great ordeal? Well, only Samsung has the answer as to what and where went wrong!
Following the consecutive misfortunes of the Galaxy Note 7, and after all efforts made by Samsung to revitalize the smartphone has proven futile, Oculus, without further hesitation has decided to disable its support for the phablet on the Gear VR app.
On the reason why Oculus decided to disable the service for the unfortunate device, the company wrote that, “Customer safety is Oculus’ top priority. Oculus is removing support for all Note 7 devices on the Oculus platform. Until further notice, Note 7 devices will not be compatible with the Gear VR. For more information regarding the Note 7, please contact Samsung directly.”
I give kudos to Oculus for the decision taken, because users of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones with the Gear VR headset, are at a greater risk of having their faces burnt, if and when the phone hits the point of explosion.
To disable its Gear VR support for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7, Oculus has included an update to the Gear VR mobile app functions. Once this update is installed, the Gear VR headset will not function as usual and will display Oculus’ quoted statement: "... until further notice, Note 7 devices will not be compatible with the Gear VR."
For your information, if you still are interested in experiencing the Gear VR, the Google Pixel/Pixel XL are having similar functions with the DayDream VR.
