Google Inc., the multinational technology company we are so much familiar with and needs no formal introduction, has delivered a special statue of honor to the city of Montélimar, also known as the world capital of Nougat.
Google which has a history for naming its Android Operating Systems by sweet things (cupcake, donut, eclair, gingerbread, ice cream sandwich, Marshmallow, amongst others), sometime in August this year upgraded its Operating Systems to Nougat, which is also a known name of a town in France.
Montélimar, the second-largest town in Drome, France, also known as the world capital of Nougat has been presented by Google with a statue of honor for naming its latest Android Operating System by the Town's known name.
Montélimar is famous for its production of nougat since the 18th century with its unique honey & almond style. In that one city alone 300 local candy makers prepare over 4.5 tons of “Nougat de Montélimar” each year.
The sculpture of the new statue is such that a piece of Nougat was held up by the famous Android Bugdroid.
The city’s mayor, Franck Raynier, had the following to say regarding the unveiling:
"Today we’ll be able to give a much more modern image to nougat, thanks to Google, because the new version of their Android OS is called Nougat. So we can reach out to a younger generation, a more connected generation, who will ask themselves ‘hey, what’s nougat?’, and then they’ll search nougat and they’ll find that the world capital of this candy is Montélimar in France and so for us it’s an extraordinary opportuinity".
Who would think that the small town of about 35, 704 population would be immortalized by Google's Android Nougat?...
