Who noticed a change of Google's logo (the logo above the search box) yesterday? I did notice the change! And it left me curious about what happened to warrant such change.
After much research I found out that the esteemed company was marking its 18yrs of birth.
Impressive! 18yrs with such rapid and huger success.
Let's take a hint on who this company is.
Although still wondering why Google-doodle placed Google's birthday to be yesterday (27 Sept, 2016), probably just as most political personnel does in my country, Google wants to feel 3 weeks younger than its real age. Whatever the reason, it is for Google to explain. Be that as it may, Google is a juristic personnel (an artificial person) which was, according to history books, incorporated 18 years ago as a privately held company on September 4, 1998.
Google is an American multinational technology company specializing in Internet -related services and products that include online advertising technologies, search , cloud computing , and software. It was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University , California.
This company acquires a lot products which I'm sure we somehow are familiar with. I will mention but few:-
Google Search Engine, Google Docs, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Maps, Google+, Google Translate, Google Chrome, Google Photos, Hangouts, Android OS, Chrome OS, YouTube, Blogger, not forgetting it's smartphones (Nexus devices), amongst others. In December 2013, Alexa, the world website ranking site, listed Google.com as the most visited website in the world.
C'mon! Could we have achieved the utmost without Google? Probably without Android OS we would get stuck with Blackberry OS and iOS? Or probably we get stuck with Yahoomail and use Bing, yahoo or Wikipedia as our search engines? I am not saying the above are not good or functioning to expectations in their own capacity, but the advent of Google in those existing areas have made a better development in technology. Google came with a better option that accommodates every walks of life.
Come to think of it, even if you use Bing to search the web on Firefox, and you ignore Google Photos, Gmail, and Drive for Flickr, Yahoo Mail, and Dropbox, eventually someone will send you a YouTube clip, you’ll find the channel interesting enough to subscribe to, and you’ll be ensnared in Google’s incredibly wide net on the web.
In its 18 years of existence, Google has grown from the world’s favorite search engine to the world’s favorite web browser, maps service, email client, mobile operating system, and online video depository. A billion people around the world now use each of Google’s marquee services: Chrome, Google Maps, Gmail, Android, and YouTube. According to Google’s numbers, that’s nearly a third of the global online population, and YouTube reaches more people between the ages of 18 and 49 than any US cable network.
With this little said, it is overly encouraging, inspiring and touching that one could achieve such immeasurable success in just 18years of age. I believe it is not too late to start and be better. The starting may take long, but in that process, always map out strategies to keep you moving and overtake when you start eventually - these strategies should not be static, but flexible to allow any edit (inclusions or deletions).
Google, this may be coming late, but still in the season of your new age, i celebrate with you and place my good wishes in the history of well-wishers.
More grace and more innovations!
