Acer, the Taiwanese multinational company and world's top five PC manufacturers, during the Conference at IFA Berlin, have unveiled a series of eye-catching laptops, which is said to be for all class of people (cheap, medium and expensive) - depending on your budget or what feature appeals to you the most.
These laptops are the Swift 7, Swift 5, Swift 3 and Swift 1. We shall be touching briefly on them.
Acer Swift 1 features a 14-inch display, an Intel Pentium or Celeron processor, 4GB RAM, with the base model having 32GB of eMMC storage (rising to 128GB maximum), and a12 hours battery life.
The laptop will be available in North America for $249 by November; and in EMEA by October for €349.
Acer Swift 3 is in different versions. It features a 14 inch display, 1366 x 768 pixel display or 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS anti-glare display, 17.95mm thin, a 6 or 7 Generation Intel Core processors, 4GB or 8GB RAM and up to 512GB of solid state storage, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB Type-C ports, fingerprint scanner and a 12 hours battery life.
The Acer Swift 3 will be available in North America by October for $499; in EMEA by October for €499; and in China by this month for ¥4,999.
However, as a senior in the line (right after the Swift 7), the Swift 5 is thinner, lighter and offers longer battery life. It features a
1080p IPS display, 14-inch full HD display, 14.6mm thin, Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake processors, up to 8GB RAM, 256GB or 512GB SSD, 802.11ac WiFi, USB Type-C ports and a 13 hours of battery life. Options are available for a touch display and fingerprint reader.
The Acer Swift 5 will be available in North America by November for $749; in EMEA by November for €749; and in China by October for ¥5,999.
The Swift 7 (most senior of all in the line) boasts of a 13.3-inch IPS screen with a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) fashioned from Gorilla Glass, all-aluminum unibody chassis, 9.98mm thin, Intel Core i5 Kaby Lake processor, up to 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, 2 USB 3.1 ports, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a MU-MIMO (router technology which allows for a better connection when using multiple devices wirelessly) and a 9 hours battery life. This is the world’s first laptop to measure less than 1 cm thin - along with a convertible that can go 360-degree.
The Acer Swift 7 will be available in North America by October for $999; in EMEA by October for €1,299; and in China by this month for ¥6,999.
In my opinion, the Swift 7 is great laptop, but does not seem to compete closely with the powerful Lenovo Yoga 910 and is not worthy to entertain such price spent for it.
