Remember what I wrote yesterday on Facebook's aim to win your heart and steal you away from other social media platforms? I must confess, I have been stolen by Facebook, solely for reasons of this app!
Although, I have no first-hand trial of it, but from what Facebook explained, I think I am in love with it. Can't wait to try it and incorporate its usage into my company!
Facebook, amongst the plethora of its apps and updates, has added to the list for this year by opening for public use, a mobile app/website, tagged "Workplace", which is strictly an enterprise tool for companies/businesses/organisations, helping them to easily communicate with their staff and competitors.
How does this work?
Although using the platform goes for a fee, which will be discussed later in this post, Workplace is verily easy to understand as its main functions and components are identical to how Facebook works. However, with this app your communication is limited only to the people at your company. Also, just like Twitter, you don't "friend" and "unfriend" people you are interested in or vice-versa, instead, you can follow them to see their posts.
Workplace affords you the opportunity to create multi-company groups, giving access to the staff from different companies to easily communicate with each other on shared projects. It gets interesting, Workplace has been made fun-handy, wherein an employee can shoot a live video for others to watch in their Workplace.
Did I mention that Workplace also supports audio and video calling? Oh, yea! Workplace assures you of almost every necessary features you need to properly run a business - diverse modes of communication, relationship building, fun, bla bla... whether it’s basic infrastructure such as News Feed, or the ability to create and share in Groups or via chat, or useful features such as Live, Reactions, Poll, Comment and Like posts, Message people directly, and Search for Trending posts within your Workplace. Very impressive innovation!
In a statement, Facebook explained that, "We’ve been amazed by the breadth of organizations who’ve embraced Workplace — from a shipping company that can now connect with their ship crews using Live video, to a bank that now uses Workplace instead of fax machines and newsletters to share updates with its distributed bank branches".
Like I wrote earlier, using Workplace goes for a fee, which is quite rewarding for large companies/organizations - The more the active users, the lesser the fee. Below is the breakdown:
- Per 1,000 monthly active users = $3.
- Per 1,001 - 10,000 monthly active users =$2.
- Per 10,000 above monthly active users = $1.
- Workplace is free for non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Also, users have a three (3) months free trial period.
